AN ELDERLY man injured in a serious crash in North Dorset yesterday remains in hospital with extensive injuries.
The 87-year-old from Wareham was driving a Jaguar XF, which was involved in a collision with an articulated lorry on the A350 north of Fontmell Magna.
He was taken to Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester after being freed from his car by Dorset Fire and Rescue crews.
A long stretch of the road was closed during the evening rush hour as police carried out investigations.
The emergency services were called at 12.24pm after the crash.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “The man remains in hospital, where he is in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“He has a broken sternum and internal bleeding, although not a broken leg as previously believed. His injuries are not life-threatening, but are still very serious because of his age.”
