Red Arrows will perform on all four days of this year's Bournemouth Air Festival for the first time
THE show-stopping Red Arrows will perform on all four days of Bournemouth Air Festival this year for the first time, it has been confirmed.
The team, which has been the highlight of the festival for many since it began in 2008, has never been able to wow the crowds on each day of the event before.
But, as it embarks on its 50th anniversary display season, the Diamond Nine’s schedule for 2014 confirms that the Hawk jets will take to the skies on each day of the show, which is being held between Thursday, August 28, and Sunday, August 31.
Jon Weaver, air festival director, said: "We’ve only found out today and can’t believe we have been allocated the Red Arrows for all four days of the air festival, it’s incredible news.
"For us as a festival, the organisers, teams of people behind the event and the hundreds of thousands of people who attend, it really shows how far we have come to have such superb RAF support.
"We have great plans to develop this year’s festival and with news like this – it can only get better."
The announcement is sure to delight flying fans, with the team having a close relationship with Bournemouth since the tragic death of Flt Lt Jon Egging, when his jet crashed near the airport at Hurn in 2011.
Today, the team unveiled a new Union Flag tailfin to mark its anniversary.
