HE has gained a hoarde of devoted fans during his time as the frontman for Canadian hard-rockers Alexisonfire.

And now acclaimed singer-songwriter Dallas Green will be winning over audiences with his haunting voice and poetic words as he tours the UK under the alias City and Colour.

With a touring ensemble which includes Jack Lawrence from The Raconteurs on bass and The Constantine's Doug MacGregor on drums, City and Colour will be taking over the 02 Academy on Monday February 3.

The release of his acclaimed album The Hurry and The Harm in June last year and an arena tour of the UK as the support act for Biffy Clyro added to his already impressive list of accolades.

“I just wanted to make an honest record,” said the musician who has been playing the guitar since the age of eight.

“At the end of the day, when I write a song, it has to make me happy. I have to want to sing it again. And then the hope after that is that somebody else will like it.”

The release of the single Harder Than Stone on his current album saw huge support from Jo Whiley on Radio 2, and was Record of the Week for Rich Walters on XFM.

He said: “Harder Than Stone is my way of saying if I had to walk away from all of this, and leave it all behind, I'll be ok.

“Life is hard no matter what and you can't really worry about what's around the corner."

The Hurry and The Harm is the first City and Colour album recorded outside of Canada – Green took his process this time to Nashville, Tennessee’s Blackbird Studios.

“I’ve never gone anywhere else to make a record,” Green recalls. “I think it worked out, and it was a wonderful experience.”

Green began recording as City and Colour in 2005, with Sometimes, followed by 2008’s Bring Me Your Love and 2011’s Little Hell and he has experienced huge success both on the charts and the road.
