MOTORISTS are suffering delays again this morning due to temporary traffic lights in Barrack Road in Christchurch.
The lights, which are positioned halfway down the busy road, will be lifted on Thursday, say Southern Gas Networks who are carrying out work on the road.
There were long delays throughout the area last night due to the traffic lights as well as road closures due to flooding at Stony Lane, the Avon Causeway and gas works at Christchurch High Street.
Chloe Boyce, a spokeswoman for Southern Gas Networks, said: "We are currently carrying out a new gas connection job for a nursing home in Barrack Road, Christchurch.
"We were given permission by the Highways authority to complete our work here this week.
"Temporary traffic lights have been necessary at certain times to ensure the safety of the public and our engineers. The lights were removed yesterday evening before rush hour.
"The traffic lights are now back in operation and will be in place for the rest of the work, which is due to finish by the end of tomorrow. The lights will be manned at peak periods.
"We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused and thank motorists for their patience."
