Bournemouth Echo: Police hunting couple who threatened a pensioner with a knife Police hunting couple who threatened a pensioner with a knife

POLICE are hunting for suspects who threatened a pensioner with a knife in a ‘nasty’ attack.

The attempted robbery took place in Redhill Common just before 7am on Sunday December 8.

The 71-year-old local man was just walking along when he was approached by a woman and an unknown white man in dark clothing, who demanded money and threatened him with a knife.

During the ordeal the victim managed to punch and kick the man before running to safety.

Detective Constable Emma Hawkes, of Bournemouth CID, said that no one has been arrested in connection with this crime.

She said: “This was a nasty attack on a man while he walked alone and I am keen to establish exactly what happened.

“This attempted robbery happened early in the morning, and I am confident there would have been other people in the area at the time who may have witnessed what happened or have details about those responsible.

“Fortunately the victim managed to escape uninjured and the offenders were left empty handed.

“I urge anyone with information to call Dorset Police in confidence at the earliest opportunity.”

If you have any information call Dorset Police on 101

He sounds like my old Regimental Sergeant Major. My old RSM is 72 and still arm wrestles at the bar! Can we second him to the neighborhood watch?
