LEARNING for life, is the motto of Wimborne First School which prides itself on equipping children with all the academic, emotional and practical skills they need for the future.

Headteacher Sarah Lynch, who joined the school two years ago, has overseen a gradual expansion of the school including a re-branding of the school logo, signs and website.

There is a new pedestrian entrance outside the school to improve road safety, around £15,000 has been spent on a new play area which includes a new wildlife pond, there is also a dedicated art room and new phonic scheme.

“Wimborne First School is a very special place. The staff, children, parents and all involved in the school bring it alive every day,” she says.

“Our hope is that the school inspires children to love learning, show respect, be polite and have the skills to use when they go into their chosen careers.

“Every aspect of the curriculum is valued and explored in order to develop the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world around them, providing them with the emotional and practical skills they need.

“Any visitor to the school will notice how polite and happy the children are. Everybody who visits the school comments on the atmosphere because it is such a happy place.

Miss Lynch adds: “We look at the whole child. Academic skills are important, but skills such as learning to co-operate with others, enthusiasm, commitment and being able to listen are just as important.

“We want our children to develop into confident individuals who have a happy time at school and go on to achieve all their dreams and ambitions.

“I am very proud of all we have achieved so far, but of course I couldn’t do it without the staff or board of governors who all work so hard.”
