Body found on Dorset beach
A BODY has been discovered on a Dorset beach.
Detectives confirmed that a man had been found on the rocks under the cliff at East Beach, West Bay.
It is believed a dog walker alerted officers at 7.45am this morning.
The beach has been cordoned off while dozens of officers remain at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Steve Broadhurst, of Weymouth CID, said: "While we are keeping an open mind all the signs are that this is not suspicious."
Many shocked dog walkers and residents gathered nearby as the scene was examined.
A number of police and forensic team vehicles are in the car park.
The body has now been removed from the beach.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "Dorset Police were called at 7.45am on Sunday to a report of a possible body on the beach at West Bay.
"A middle-aged man was located below the cliffs.
“His injuries were consistent with having fallen from a height."
