Technical problem causes delays to flights at Bournemouth Airport

Bournemouth Echo: Technical problem causes delays to flights at at Bournemouth Airport Technical problem causes delays to flights at at Bournemouth Airport

A 'TECHNICAL problem' at the air traffic control centre is causing delays at Bournemouth Airport and others across the country.

National Air Traffic Services (Nats) said on Saturday morning that the issue stemmed from its control centre in Swanwick, Hampshire.

A spokesman said: ''Due to a technical problem at Swanwick, we are currently experiencing some difficulty switching from night-time to daytime operation. This may result in some delays, for which we apologise.

''Engineers are working to rectify the problem as soon as possible.''

Bournemouth is experiencing delays with both incoming and departing flights.

An airport spokesman said: ``We had a delay this morning going out to Sweden. It was around an hour and 10 minutes late leaving. It was due to leave at 7.10 but left at around 8.30.

``The inbound flight from Alicante was due to arrive at 9.45 but is now estimated to be here at 12.10.

``Then the outbound service (to Alicante), leaving at 10.10 is estimated to leave at 12.30.''

Those boys with their toys As you put it could be the future airline pilots , that take you and your families to holiday destinations . And let me remind you the airport was there before, possibly your homes.

No -- my house was built way before the airport ... but then folk like me are much too far down the food chain to have any say in these matters!
I hadn't realised just how much of Hamble's old 'job' is now being carried out at Bournemouth... oh joy!.....

I'm not really thinking of those involved in flight 'training' -- although it is much better when the airport is working 'backwards' (roll on the next east wind!..)
I'm thinking more of the 'pleasure' flights, where the lucky recipient of the half hour flight - probably bought as a present - will no doubt say 'can we fly over my house?'

Not too long ago, if that involved deliberately flying over the the town itself (especially round in circles) that was prohibited by the airport authorities.
Clearly, that's no longer true......

Let's hope that tomorrow's commercial pilots can afford to train in better aircraft that the toys that fly from Hurn..... Learning to fly in a machine that is clearly only just airborne, with an underpowered Lister diesel straining every nut and bolt (and sounding like a demented lawnmower in the process) is not what I would hope counts as serious 'commercial' flight training ?.....

You've got serious issues if light aircraft drive you to such inane rants. I take it you kick off if your neighbour mows there lawn? Unbelievable.

I'm not sure if you can get them at Aldi or Tesco, but if you see a sense of humour for sale, at a reasonable price, do try and pick one up?......

Don't take it all quite so seriously... my comments are quite clearly to be taken with a pinch of salt.....but not everyone gets the point...sigh.....
(Oh, and by the way, it's 'their lawn' not 'there lawn'.... ah!... maybe English is not your first language?.... that could explain your 'literal' interpretation of my comments)..

I think we all predicted hitting major problems when they closed down some of the area traffic control units and centralised it all on Swanwick.

At the time the 'EXPERTS' assured us that our concerns were 'unfounded'
....Yea right!

Now..... not unfounded ...just 'grounded!'

Well, if you must post personal insults ('inane rant' - 'you've got serious issues') in response to clearly light hearted posts ( 'Biggles and his chums' - 'sounding like a demented lawnmower' ) then why would I not respond?
"Cheap shot'?.... you're the one who couldn't be bothered to check your spelling!

No one "got the point".

If you were (really) trying to be funny you failed miserably.

To then be a complete richard head in trying to belittle someone just shows us what a sad little knobber you are .
Thank you for your comments and advice.
I'm honoured to be the recipient of such eloquent prose. Your command of English is really very impressive......

You need to re-read your comment and look at how others perceive it. I'm afraid what your brain has interpreted as 'humour', clearly comes across as someone who is bitter and twisted at light aircraft flying locally in the area, and that any such persons doing so are of a higher class. And to then move onto nit-picking on grammar is just low.
