A YOUNG mum filmed naked as she and her two children undressed in a swimming pool changing room fears the same could happen to other families.

She said she is unhappy with the way the shocking incident was dealt with by staff at Poole’s Dolphin Leisure Centre and has urged bosses to review procedures at the centre before others are affected.

The victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke out after JP Morgan project manager Sameer Mitter admitted two charges of voyeurism at Bournemouth magistrates’ court.

The 35-year-old used a pen-shaped camera to record families in unisex changing rooms last month and will be sentenced on November 26.

The woman, who has a four-year-old daughter and two-year-old son, told the Daily Echo: “My little girl spotted the camera and pointed it out to me.

“We were all undressed at the time and couldn’t leave the cubicle so I phoned the Dolphin reception to tell them what had happened.

“It was at least 10 minutes before anyone arrived in the changing room so the man was long gone by then.”

She said there was a lengthy delay before police were called and said the offender would never have been caught if he had not been identified as a member of the centre due to her description.

The victim also revealed that an innocent man was initially held on suspicion of the offence.

“I think the manager on duty at the time could have done a lot more and could have acted much quicker,” she said.

“This sort of thing could happen again if it’s not treated a lot more seriously.”

A spokesman for the leisure centre said that the duty manager spoke to the customer in the changing village and then notified police.

The centre was then searched for the man she had described, but he had left. The police attended about 20 minutes later, the spokesman added.

The centre’s general manager, Rob Slocombe, said: “Everyone at Active Leisure Centre: Poole takes its duty of care towards its customers incredibly seriously.

“We have lifeguards who patrol the changing areas every 15 minutes and in the village changing area we have CCTV that monitors activity outside of the cubicles.”

He said that CCTV provided evidence that led to Mitter’s arrest.

Mitter, a 35-year-old father, of Avenel Way, Poole, blamed stress at work for his crimes. He has been warned he faces a possible jail sentence.
