WORK to the minor roads crossing the busy B3078 at the Horton Inn Crossroads is set to begin.

The amendments come after two fatal crashes close to the junction.

Motorcyclist Ivan Tomlinson, a 59-year-old from Andover, Hampshire, died on Tuesday, May 21, after a collision with a Mercedes Sprinter van, and Sophie Crew, 23, was killed on Tuesday, June 11 when her Mini Cooper was involved in a head-on crash with a coach transporting Queen Elizabeth’s School students.

However, the roadworks were given the green light before the collisions.

The work, which will take three days to complete, includes improvements to lining and signage with vehicle activated signing and an anti-skid surface being installed.

The roads will be closed to traffic during this time. Locally signed diversion routes will be put in place for traffic to travel around the closed sections.

Carriageway resurfacing will also be carried out on the B3078, Cranborne Road.

The work will be carried out between 9am and 3.30pm from November 19.

The Horton Inn will be open as usual and will be accessible from the Gussage St Michael road throughout the work.
