DORSET-based charity Diverse Abilities Plus is holding a recruitment open evening at its Poole headquarters to find more support assistants for adults with disabilities.

The charity wants to expand its supported living service in response to increasing demand. At the moment, it supports 35 adults to either live in their own homes or attend a day centre.

One of its clients is Caroline Amey, who went to the charity’s Langside School and is receiving support to live in a specially adapted bungalow.

“I used to live in a big care home with lots of other people and I only had a small room. Now I have a whole house and a garden. I can now choose what I want to do and when I do it. I have more freedom than before,” she said.

The evening will be taking place from 4.30 to 8pm on September 9 in the charity’s head office at Unit C, Acorn Business Park, Ling Road, BH12 4NZ.
