THE son of famous Disney composing legend Robert Sherman will be in Bournemouth next week as guest of honour of the Big Little Theatre School.

Robbie Sherman, also an established songwriter, will take his seat at the opening night of the school’s Broadway Showtunes at the Pavilion on July 18.

He will be in town as the guest of Big Little musical supervisor Colin Billing who met him in the West End at the opening of musical workshop Bumblescratch.

Robbie’s father was one half of prolific writing team The Sherman Brothers whose credits include the world-famous It’s A Small World (After all) as well as scores for Mary Poppins, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and The Jungle Book.

He is looking forward to the latest Big Little production and will also work with student Mark Houston who has recently written a song described as “nearly perfect” by Robbie.

Broadway Showtunes will run at the Pavilion from July 18 to 20 and features talented students from the school’s youth theatre groups.

The show will include hit songs from many well-known musicals including Les Miserables, Grease, Guys and Dolls, West side Story and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
