EXCITED youngsters at a Christchurch primary school threw their energies into a fundraising obstacle course in aid of a local charity.
Children at Somerford Primary School in Drapers Road tried their hand at a variety of different activities to raise money for the Red Ranger Fund.
The charity was set up to support Christchurch youngster Diego King in his last few months after he was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour.
Tragically, the five-year-old passed away in 2011, with his parents David and Alexia now fundraising for brain tumour charities.
Headteacher, Chris Nourse, said the school council had chosen the Red Ranger Fund as their charity for the year as two of Diego’s cousins – Scarlet, eight, and Harrison, four, go to the school.
Before the activities started, a balloon release took place on the school field.
Mr Nourse said: “We just talked to the children about the importance of thinking about other people and doing charity work.”
David King, Diego’s father, said: “We are planning to use the money for a commemorative bench at Mudeford Quay so are really grateful to the children.”
