Developments in Ringwood will have to fit in with the character of the town in the future.
A new planning guidance document has been drawn up for the town following similar plans for New Milton and Lymington.
In the “local distinctiveness” plan, developers will be encouraged to design their schemes to fit the local surroundings.
It also applies to householders, landowners and businesses.
