It's a predictable as a rainy Bank Holiday - a sunny forecast will see thousands flocking to our golden sands, bringing with them spending money, traffic and lots of litter. Here's how the weekend looked in pictures:
Saturday morning: traffic starts building up on the A31 at Poulner Hill, made worse by a five car crash at Ringwood.
The beaches start to fill up as the visitors arrive....
... and in the Lower Gardens, Bournemouth Elite Cheerleading Squad are practicing for their appearance in the National Championships at the BIC.
But not everywhere was packed - this family found themselves a nice quiet spot on the inner harbour at Sandbanks.
Dozens took part in the Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival. See a full gallery here
But the litter is already beginning to cause a problem:
By Sunday, thousands more have taken to the beaches:
leading to traffic queues to get out of town that started at 4pm and didn't clear until after midnight...
And some truly terrible parking... (more on this later)
