The night sky has been illuminated by what appeared to be a much bigger and brighter Moon.
The so-called “supermoon” occurs when the Moon reaches its closet point to the Earth, known as a perigee full moon.
The effect makes the Moon seem 14% bigger and 30% brighter than when it is furthest from the planet.
If you missed it over the weekend you will have to wait until August 2014 for the next one.
Daily Echo readers have been sending in their pictures of the spectacle and we’d love to see yours. Email them to us at photos@bournemouthecho.co.uk.
