A MAN has pleaded guilty to assault by beating and criminal damage.

Glenn Mark Jeans, 51, of Poole, admitted two counts of criminal damage to property and to assault by beating at an address on Butt Farm Close in Winterbourne Abbas.

Magistrates heard how Jeans assaulted his partner and damaged a door at the property on March 29.

The third offence took place on April 6 when Jeans returned to the same address and threw a wine glass.

Prosecuting Elizabeth Valera said the couple had been to a party and Jeans had been frustrated by calls from his ex-wife before he began to hit the victim on March 29.

She added: “The victim suffered a punch to the face which caused a black eye.”

Lee Christmas, defending, said the defendant was keen to make his relationship work with the victim and that both of them had problems with alcohol which he was willing to get help with.

Chairman of the board Pam Homer told Jeans that he would be facing a medium range community order.

Jeans was released on conditional bail until his next appearance at Weymouth Magistrates' Court on June 4.
