A TRAGIC pensioner who plunged from the 16th floor of a cliff-top block of flats is believed to have fallen from his kitchen window.

Keith Williams, 69, fell around 170ft from Albany on Manor Road, Bournemouth, at around 11am on Wednesday.

The luxury block, commanding spectacular sea views, is one of the resort’s highest buildings.

Albany residents are still struggling to come to terms with the tragedy on their doorstep; the second fatality in recent years.

Emergency services were alerted to the East Cliff at around 11am after Mr Williams’ body was found and a white scenes of crime tent was erected near the entrance to the exclusive block’s underground garages. Three ambulances were called.

Part of the building was cordoned off and residents were guided away from an area underneath balconies.

The huge cream building is 18 storeys high with 137 apartments and porters who assist the mainly elderly residents.

The East Dorset district coroner has been informed and an inquest will be held.

A Dorset Police spokesman said Mr Williams’ death was not being treated as suspicious but an investigation is still under way.

Former Albany resident, Bournemouth councillor Barry Goldbart, who lives nearby, and East Cliff ward councillor Anne Filer were among those who offered their condolences to Mr Williams’ family.

It is not the first tragedy at Albany.

An 80-year-old woman fell to her death from the 16th floor of the cliff-top block several years ago.

Her death was not treated as suspicious.
