PIRATES are understood to be on the verge of unveiling two further new recruits – with a former Wimborne Road rider expected to be one of them.

Promoter Matt Ford is hoping to complete his re-declared one to seven after revealing number one Darcy Ward had been omitted.

Ford is awaiting clearance from the BSPA after submitting plans for his team changes earlier this week. He was forced to take drastic action due to Pirates’ poor start to the new season, with last night’s win at King’s Lynn hauling them off the foot of the Elite League table.

Ford has already revealed the addition of Przemyslaw Pawlicki, the Pole, 21, arriving on loan from Coventry to replace Ward.

However, although Ford is believed to have broken the news to his two existing riders, the identity of their possible replacements has been kept under wraps.

The Daily Echo understands ex-Poole trio Greg Walasek, Thomas H Jonasson and Leon Madsen are all under consideration, together with a rider who would be new to British speedway.

While Chris Holder and Maciej Janowski will avoid the cull, Dawid Stachyra, Robert Miskowiak, Kyle Howarth and Rohan Tungate are all in the firing line.

Discussing Pawlicki’s arrival, Ford said: “I have always been a big fan of his. We have tried to get him to join once or twice before.

“He was the thorn in our side in the 2010 title loss to Coventry. He is big mates with Maciej Janowski and the two of them will live with me.”

Pawlicki is set to make his debut against Lakeside at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.
