RAIL users between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst faced delayed this evening after a lorry struck a bridge in the New Forest.

No one was hurt in the incident, which occured this afternoon.

However, a number of trains were affected or cancelled while police dealt with the crash, believed to have been caused after a foreign driver was unable to recognise the road signs warning lorries to be careful.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: "A curtain lorry became wedged, and while there was no structural damage to the bridge, we needed to make sure the lorry was secure before it could reverse back out again."
