TIME is running out to submit your nominations for the Daily Echo-backed Bourne Brilliant Awards.

Readers have until May 24 to put forward that special young person whom they believe deserves recognition for their success in education, commitment to look after others, or another reason specific to them.

The event, organised by the Integrated Youth Service at Bournemouth council, looks for young people to champion the local community.

Youth workers, family, teachers, or anyone who believes that the young person deserves an award for their achievement, can nominate a young person or team, aged between 13 and 21 on June 27, 2013.

After the nomination forms are collected up, they will be put before a panel of judges made up of young people from the event planning group, sponsors and professionals.

From there they will whittle down the young people put forward for each category to just three finalists, who will be invited to a glittering award ceremony at the Bournemouth Highcliff Marriot Hotel in June 2013.

Examples of winners from 2012 include Abigail Lockyer, who was last year’s Young Carer Award winner, in recognition for being a joint carer to her younger sister, who has learning difficulties.

Abigail helps with day-to-day activities as well as school and days out and helps her sister to join groups.

So if you know a special young person, nominate them to be a star of Bourne Brilliant 2013.
