A FUNDRAISING event to send a poorly little girl on a special dream holiday to Disneyland Paris will take place on Saturday.

The party, which will include a visit from favourite children’s TV character Peppa Pig, is to raise money for New Milton youngster Milly Smith, who is due to undergo a bone marrow transplant this summer.

Milly, five, suffers from a rare immune condition, Chronic Granumolatous Disorder (CGD), which leaves her vulnerable to common infections.

She has spent much of her young life in hospital but this summer will receive a bone marrow transplant from her seven-year-old sister Kacey.

The transplant is the only cure for the disorder and will mean Milly enduring radiotherapy and chemotherapy to eradicate her immune system before she can receive the bone marrow, followed by up to eight weeks in isolation.

This weekend’s event – Milly’s Dream Fundraiser – will be at Ashley Baptist Church in New Milton from noon to 2pm.

All proceeds from the event will go towards the holiday of a lifetime for the youngster, her sister Kacey and mother Theresa.

Theresa said: “We are hoping, if we manage to raise enough money, to go on holiday either next year or 2015.

“It will, of course, depend on Milly’s recovery.

“There is a very special bond between Milly and Kacey so it will be difficult when they can’t see each other for a time during the treatment.

“The event this weekend will be a chance for people to come along, have fun raising some money and of course meet Peppa Pig.”

A fundraising page has also been set up where people can donate money towards the trip.

We apologise for the error and any distress caused to either family.
