HOMES along the Purbeck coast were left without power for several hours this morning.
Some homes are still waiting for their electricity to be turned back on while works are carried out by Scottish and Southern Electric.
Local resident Chris Messer told the Echo she had called the company and been told that re-wiring work was under way.
“I got home to find the road closed between Winfrith Newburgh and Durdle Door, and us with no power,” she said.
“When I rang the electricity company they said it went off at 10am over a wide area, including Wool and West Lulworth, but they were expecting to have it back on in some places by 2pm.
“I expect a tractor has taken something down by accident.
“It’s a long time to be without power, but it isn’t really causing us any problems at the moment. We will survive.”
