BOTH of Poole’s RNLI lifeboats were called out to Studland Bay after a woman onboard a speedboat was injured when it hit a rogue wave.

The crews got the call at 1.30pm on Sunday to the small speedboat, which had three people on board.

One of them had sustained an injury to her back. The lifeboat crew made her comfortable and took her to Poole Yacht Club, where an ambulance was on standby.

The woman was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment.

Volunteer deputy Coxswain Dave Riley said: “It’s the start of the season and misfortunes can happen, even the most experienced can get caught out, accidents can and do happen, we are just happy to be able to come to their assistance and help make the casualty comfortable.”
