GET set for a super summer with a spectacular crop of more than 70 free family events in Poole for Wave 105’s Summertime in the South 2013.

The largest free family events programme was launched at Poole’s Custom House on Friday with a taste of what’s to come courtesy of local folk favourite Catherine Burke, whose performance topped a major new event – Folk on the Quay.

This free family folk festival at the end of June will see headliners Spiers and Boden on the outdoor stage, Ceilidh on the Quay and a host of local and national folk favourites in venues along the quayside.

Other upcoming highlights include the Street Arts Festival and Mini Steam events in May, Paye Day on June 15, and on June 22 a new event, Love Architecture, will see the quay transformed into a unique crazy golf course.

The prestigious British Beach Polo Championships return to Sandbanks Beach on July 6-7, followed by Sandbanks Beach Volleyball Festival. And, following its inaugural success, the Thai Festival will be back in Harbourside Park from September 7-8 bringing music, dance and exotic flavours.

For the first time this year popular car racing event Rallye Sunseeker will see both the ceremonial start and the prize giving taking place on Poole Quay in October.

And not to be missed is Summer Breeze, which brings the spirit of the Med to Poole Quay every Thursday from July 25 until the end of August from 7pm.

Summertime in the South concludes with the November 5 fireworks on Poole Quay.
