A GROUP of military wives and girlfriends led the entertainment at a wedding fayre in Poole on Sunday.

The Dolphin Shopping Centre hosted its first ever wedding event, as a number of businesses offering everything from dress and hair and make-up artists to cakes and wedding cars, showed the best of what they offer.

However, it was the Bovington Military Wives Choir who really added to the atmosphere of the day, which was arranged by Events of Elegance.

Captain Ian Johnson, director of music at Bovington camp and MD of the choir, said: “We started as a community choir about a year ago, but there are obviously so many wives and partners in the area, that it made sense.”

He added: “We are a registered charity and we have to fundraise to be able to travel and perform up and down the country and are very happy to perform at weddings and events.”

Elsewhere in the Dolphin shopping centre, there was a catwalk to shop off some of the latest fashions in bridal wear, and Buttons the Clown entertained the younger visitors and their families.

John Grinnell, Dolphin centre manager, said: “We had a fantastic mix of exhibitors and felt that all brides and grooms-to-be would be able to find inspiration and more for their big day.

“The Military Wives performance and catwalk shows added a fantastic dimension to the day and we are sure that shoppers really enjoyed themselves.”
