CHANGE of use of a home into student accommodation at Talbot Village will now require perm-ission from Borough of Poole.
The council has approved an Article 4 Direction which removes permitted development rights for a change of use from a dwelling house to a house of multiple occupation.
This has been supported by Branksome East councillors Karen Rampton and Jane Thomas.
“This has been long-awaited by our residents in Talbot Village and brings Poole in line with Bournemouth which is similarly affected by growth in the HMO sector,” said Cllr Rampton.
“Unfortunately, the direction cannot be used retrospectively over existing HMOs in Talbot Village,” she said.
Cllr Thomas said it made sense.
She said: “It will give residents an opportunity to comment on planning applications.”
