BASHLEY ensured a fitting finale to what could be their last season at the Recreation Ground by claiming a 2-0 win over Banbury United.

Mark Gamble’s second-half brace secured the victory despite Bash being reduced to 10 men following Matt Finlay’s sending off.

The Bash frontman netted his first by rounding keeper Warren Carter before slamming home a stoppage-time spot-kick after a foul on Rob Gradwell.

Bashley’s victory meant they ended their Southern League Premier Division campaign in 17th position, seven points clear of the drop zone.

The New Forest outfit could be set to play at Fawcett’s Field from next season, should their planned move to New Milton get the green light.

Bash: Moore, Strickland, Oliver, Finlay, Middleton, Richardson, Casey, Bajandouh, Moth (Gradwell, h-t), Gamble, Knight (Case, 69). Unused subs: Hill, Farren, Kearn (g/k).

  • Goals from Steve Smith, Matt Kemble and Shaun Brian gave Wimborne Town a winning finish to the Division One South & West season.

Steve Cuss’s men closed their campaign with a 3-1 victory over Mangotsfield United at Cuthbury to secure 12th position.

Magpies: Harvell, Arnold, Maybury, Costello, Brian, Blake (Webb, 76), Sainsbury, Hubbard, Kemble, Smith, Peprah-Annan (Gill, 83). Unused subs: Cole, Roast, Ackerman (g/k).

  • Cherries prospect Harry Cornick – who is set to begin his Dean Court career next season – helped Wessex Premier high-fliers Christchurch register a 4-2 home victory over Downton at Hurn Bridge.

The exciting winger was joined on the scoresheet by prolific frontmen Russell Cook (2) and Ben Osborne.
