Sir Bruce Forsyth never gets a 'Strictly Come Dancing' contract too far in advance - in case he "snuffs it".

The 85-year-old presenter insists he isn't on a long-term deal to host the BBC dance contest because he is "too old" for programme bosses to take any risks.

He said: "We've got another couple of meetings in the next week. I'm too old for people to sign up. How can you sign up somebody who's 85? I mean they might snuff it mightn't they? Anything could happen!"

However, Bruce is "sure" he will be returning for another series, though he is considering scaling down his workload as he finds it tiring.

He said: "I think we'll come to another arrangement about a yes. I'm sure we will...

"I might limit it if it's possible. Because it is a long show and being live..."

And despite his decades in showbusiness, the veteran presenter admits he still suffers from nerves.

Speaking on 'This Morning' yesterday, he said: "I do [still] get nervous. I'm on the side and I'm thinking, 'What am I doing all this for?' And then the other me turns up and I walk on and I'm this other character that people have got used to all these years and it carries me through."
