LENGTHY queues have built up along a key Poole road this evening, as four weeks of water main upgrading works start in earnest.
Drivers reported delays along the A349 at Gravel Hill, after Wessex Water installed a three-way traffic light system at the junction with Poole Grammar School.
The pipe has burst a number of times and engineers will replace around 650 metres of aging iron pipeline.
Borough of Poole councillor Chris Matthews, representing Canford Heath West ward, said: “It is imperative this is managed appropriately to minimise disruption to local residents.”
As the work reaches Darby’s Corner roundabout there will be a one-lane restriction.
