THEY say cats have nine lives, but a dog called Molly may be getting some of their luck.

First, the rescue dog was taken in by caring pensioner Dave Nuttall.

Then vets spotted she had a serious heart condition when she went in for a routine vaccination.

The Verwood OAP couldn’t afford to foot the bill, so the kindly vets carried out the complex operation for free.

The surgery would normally have cost more than £2,000.

Molly, a three-year-old black poodle, lost 100mls of blood and there were complications.

But she pulled through and is now back home recovering. Mr Nuttall, 70, is naturally thrilled by the outcome.

He said: “Molly is a beautiful little dog and they saved her life. I could never have afforded such a big vet’s bill and I am so grateful.”

A big ‘thank you’ goes to the compassionate Lynwood vets in Verwood and Wimborne for that happy ending.
