LESS than a second separated the first and second placed runners in a Ferndown fundraiser, but in age terms they were 50 years apart.

Jordan Fudge, 14, took the top slot in the 5km race in Ferndown Rotary’s charity run, with 64-year-old Brian Long taking second place, just half a second ahead of third-placed John Morris.

In the equivalent ladies’ race, Vanessa Long was first, followed by Sue Evans and Heidi Cursley.

The premier 10km race was run by Reuben Skinner with Ian Evans and Matthew Witcher placed second and third respectively, while Janie Chapman took the honour for the ladies, with Anna Burrows and Caroline Rowley taking second and third.

The winner’s medal in the 2.5km race for youngsters under 13 went to Jordan Fudge’s younger brother Sam, with Ryan Evans and Matthew Theobald taking second and third place.

For the girls, Amy Evans took first, while Charlotte Kersey was second and Anna Kersey came in third. The Hendy Group sponsored event took place at Avon Heath Country Park.
