HERO Dorset Fire and Rescue specialists dramatically scaled a 10-storey crane to rescue two men in Bournemouth town centre last night.

Around six ambulances, five police cars and a van, a fire engine and a technical support vehicle attended a car park at the back of the Old Fire Station in Holdenhurst Road.

The emergency vehicles responded to a call about two men standing on a crane at around 7pm and spent almost three hours at the scene.

Four specialist technical support workers clad in fluorescent |jackets climbed a ladder inside of the crane while fire crews |used a mechanical lift to reach the men.

The incident took place near a number of student properties.

It is not known how the men gained access to the crane.

Inspector Simon Letch of Dorset Police said neither of the men required treatment from waiting paramedics.

He said: "There was some fantastic multi-agency work tonight and I'm pleased to say none of the people involved in this incident were hurt."
