THE joint owners of a New Forest petrol station franchise have each been fined £3,000 for food hygiene offences.
Environmental health officers from the district council visited the Shell petrol station on the A31 eastbound at Picket Post, near Ringwood, in July 2012, to discover mouse droppings amongst crisps and confectionary.
Chocolate syrup used in the drinks machine and sugar sachets were also found to have been gnawed by mice.
The contaminated products had been placed in outside storage buildings, which are no longer used.
The business also voluntarily surrendered all the contaminated foods to the council officers.
George William Hunt and Justin Stuart Clark pleaded guilty to three food hygiene offences at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. As well as the fine, each of the men will have to pay £1,445 costs.
