STAFF from a Burley pub will be embarking on an intense cycling challenge this Easter.

The 24-strong team from the Queens Head will cycle 874 miles, the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats, on an exercise bike in the pub.

They will work in shifts, aiming to complete the distance in five days in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Manager Louise Crick said: “Most cyclists take more than 10 days to do this journey in real life but as a team we are aiming to cut that time in half.

“The bike will make sure we have to ride up ‘steep hills’ to make the challenges as lifelike as possible.”

Louise added: “We are having a week of fundraising events, aiming to make as much money for Macmillan as possible.

“On Easter Sunday we’ve got a family fun day, with kids’ face painting, an Easter egg hunt and an egg and spoon race.

“Monday we’ll have a quiz and throughout the weekend we’re also hosting a treasure hunt around the forest.”
