DOCTORS were still battling yesterday to save two women involved in crashes which happened within half a mile of each other.

A Bournemouth woman in her 50s was said by police to remain in a “serious and unstable” condition following a crash on Tuesday afternoon and a Ringwood pensioner was still in a “serious but stable” condition after being injured on Monday.

The woman aged in her 50s was hurt in a crash at a pelican crossing at the Cooper Dean Roundabout in Bournemouth.

A Smart car being driven by a Ringwood woman was entering the slip road from the roundabout towards the Ringwood bound side of the A338 Spur Road when the woman was hurt at 3pm on Tuesday.

She was taken to Royal Bournemouth hospital before being transferred to Southampton hospital.

The Ringwood woman, aged in her 70s, was hurt in a collision with a Yellow Buses’ bus in Deansleigh Road, outside Royal Bournemouth Hospital at 4.30pm on Monday.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information on either of the crashes to contact them on 101.
