IT’S easy to sit on the sidelines and blame others when things are not going according to plan.

So credit must go to a group of hard-working residents calling themselves the Aspen Copse Mob.

Faced with an area in their neighbourhood which had been neglected for over a decade, they transformed it into an attractive wildlife haven.

The 30 members aged from three to 73 got stuck into the two-acre Poole site, clearing it of rubbish, brambles, gorse and weeds.

In its place is now an area to be proud of which boasts a pond attracting herons, ducks, frogs, newts and kingfishers.

Anyone who has worked on their garden over the past few months will know that the inclement weather has made the job even more difficult.

It just proves if we are community-minded and pool our resources, then the task in front of us does not seem so daunting.
