Make the most of this morning's sunshine - because the rain is coming back with a vengeance.

Any hopes that spring might finally be here to stay have been dashed by a Met Office weather warning for Thursday and Friday, warning of widespread heavy rain and possible flooding across the county.

The warning reads: "Persistent rain is expected to set in during Thursday, lasting until well into Friday in many areas, and particularly heavy over hills exposed to the south and southeast. Some improvement seems likely later on Friday, but still with localised heavy showers.

"The public should be aware that this may cause some localised issues with flooding.  An active frontal system, struggling to bring milder air into the south of the country, is expected to bring 20-30 mm of rainfall quite widely, and  possibly in excess of 50 mm to some hilly districts.

"Given that recent rain and showers have made things quite wet again, this seems likely to lead to some impacts."

The heavy rain is forecast to arrive at lunchtime on Thursday, with 18.2mm forecast across the county and just 0.1 hours of sunshine. Winds look set to reach 34mph.
