DISABLED youngsters in Poole will benefit from a £150,000 investment in facilities and equipment as part of the Aiming High Short Breaks initiative.
The Cabinet has approved funding for a number of projects, all of which will transform Borough of Poole’s short breaks programme.
Bids were assessed following talks with parents, carers and disabled children about what they would like to see the money spent on and it has been awarded to eight organisations.
It will be spent on new equipment at sports facilities including race chairs, throwing frames, open canoes, self-inflating life-jackets, as well as upgrading facilities to make them more accessible.
Organisations receiving funding are Team Dorset Athletics at Hamworthy, Harbour Challenge at Brownsea Island, YMCA at The Junction at Broadstone, Hamworthy Outdoor Education Centre, Lodge Hill pool and Rossmore Leisure Centre, both Borough of Poole, Lemur Waterparks and disabled change facilities at the Dolphin Shopping Centre.
