A BUNGLING burglar who was caught red-handed at the scene of his crime has been locked up for three years.

Harmesh Toora, 37, of no fixed abode, admitted breaking into premises in Wimborne Road, Bournemouth, on February 28 this year and stealing a laptop and iPad.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard how a quick-thinking neighbour had raised the alarm after hearing the sound of breaking glass. Police detained Toora and recovered his ill-gotten gains.

Inspector Richard Dixey said: “This case illustrates how effective members of the public can be in assisting the police. Thanks to the vigilance and prompt action of the neighbour, police were able to attend swiftly.

“We urge anyone with information about suspicious activity to contact us, even if there might be an innocent explanation. The sentence illustrates how seriously these type of offences are viewed by Dorset Police and the courts.”
