A CHRISTCHURCH restaurant manager is swapping fine dining for porridge – when he goes to “prison” for charity.

Lukasz Dwornik, who manages The King’s Restaurant, will be locked up in April, and will need to raise a minimum of £1,000 bail to secure his release.

The money raised will be donated to children’s safety charity LV=Streetwise, after the organisation approached Lukasz with the fundraising idea.

He said: “I thought it was a good idea. It’s completely different to just someone asking you for a donation or a prize.

“There are a lot of people around here who want to support the charity.”

Lukasz, 31, has organised a Bail out the Boss evening on Wednesday, when diners can enjoy a four-course meal at the restaurant, as well as a charity auction and talk by chef Alex Aitken.

He added: “We have lots of prizes including dinner for two at The Jetty, our sister restaurant, a spa day at Christchurch Harbour Hotel and afternoon tea at the Captain’s Club.”

To donate to the cause, pop into The King’s Restaurant in Castle Street, Christchurch, or visit thekings-christchurch.co.uk, where online donation details will be provided shortly.
