COMMUTERS faced disruption at Bournemouth station this morning after vandals placed a mattress on the track.
The station was closed briefly with services delayed up to 30 minutes after it reopened at 7.30am.
A spokesperson for the South West Trains Network Rail Alliance said: "Services to and from Bournemouth were disrupted this morning after a mattress was found on the track near Pokesdown station at around 5.30am.
"This caused a small electrical fire which was quickly extinguished by train crew. As a result, there were delays of around 30 minutes to some trains. Services have since returned back to normal.
"The British Transport Police were advised of the incident and we would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this may have caused."
