A RANGE of events will be taking place in Bournemouth in a bid to create a sustainable future.

The activities are part of a Green Community Fair “Trade” which takes place at Castlepoint Shopping Park from March 4 to 8, culminating in a special family event on Sunday, March 10 for Bournemouth and Poole Climate Week 2013.

Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign and aims to inspire people to take action for the future.

Last year ‘The Big Green Fortnight’ won Bournemouth and Poole councils a place in the top four finalists for the Climate Week awards for Best Event.

This year the local authorities are working together once again to host Climate Week 2013, with the Green Community Fair Trade Event at Castlepoint part of the week long campaign to inspire the adoption of sustainable, low carbon lifestyles to local businesses, public services, community groups and residents.

Events include Travel Smarter Tuesday, with free advice for bicycle repairs, knitting tips on Wooly Pully Tuesday and Pull the Plug Friday will feature Tip of the Pops, an experimental solar powered wheelbarrow disco made from waste reclaimed by DJ Dynamo.

There will also be free arts and crafts workshops using recycled materials, a pole lathing demonstration, face painting and ethical and environmental stalls.

Now in its third year, the Green Community Fair is organised by the help of volunteers and in conjunction with the Transition BH Hub.
