Police are appealing for witnesses after an HGV slammed into a parked car, causing extensive damage, then drove away.

The black Volkswagen was parked facing south at Station Road, Lymington, near the junction of Newlands Road between 9.30am and 1.40pm Tuesday, February 12, when a large vehicle, travelling south, caused extensive damage.

The rear nearside bodywork was torn open, and the rear passenger window was smashed.

Police believe the offending vehicle was a HGV or larger vehicle with an overhang on the side. The impact would have made a substantial noise.

PC Lawrence McKenna would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone who knows of a large vehicle that has been damaged since February 12.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC McKenna at Lymington on 101.
