CELEBRATIONS are under way at the Winton Arts and Media College in Bournemouth where results have rocketed.
A benchmark level of 66 per cent puts the all-boys’ school 24 per cent up on last year and makes it one of the top performing non-selective schools in the area.

Head Ben Parnell, who has also recently taken the reins at neighbouring Glenmoor School, put the school’s success down to a “relentless focus on raising standards” and good planning.
“We have made it our number one priority that students leave here with the best GCSE results they possibly can,” he told the Daily Echo. “We identify exactly what each individual child needs to do to improve and we use data really effectively.”
Mr Parnell said he suspected grade boundaries may change in some examinations and ensured all students were sufficiently prepared to ensure they were not affected.
“The vast majority at Winton sat their English examination in the summer in the same way as they did at other schools” he added. “We predicted there would be some changes in grade boundaries.”
Mr Parnell said initial results at both Winton and Glenmoor indicate results will be even higher after this year’s exams.
