CHRISTMAS came early for these youngsters who were invited to enjoy a free festive feast with Santa at a local play cafe this week.

The trip to Bee A Bug in Westbourne, was a special treat for six toddlers from Camp Amazing, a local support group for families with disabled children.

Carole Evernden-Berguerand who took over the play cafe in August said: “We really want to get involved with the local community and help local charities where we can. I’d read about Camp Amazing in the paper so I really wanted to do something to support such a worthy cause.”

Claire Chissell, a mother of five from Poole, who set up the group last summer said: “We were all very touched by the offer – the children had a wonderful time.”

Each child was given a free breakfast, a present from Santa and time in the soft play area.

Claire, whose youngest child Tommy, now aged three, was born with a rare genetic disorder, is now campaigning to raise £5,000 to launch Camp Amazing as a charity.

“We are almost halfway there so we are hoping to raise the rest next year which means that we will be able to do far more and to help more families.”

Camp Amazing is hosting a summer camp at Holton Lee in Poole from July 27 to 29 next year.

Claire added: “It is also about raising awareness and funds as well as getting the message to the families who need us.”
