FOLK singer/songwriter Tom Whitman has released the first single from his upcoming second album.
Christmas single Walk of the Moment, pays homage to Bournemouth’s former Borders store, which closed on Christmas Eve three years ago and went on to become a Tesco Metro.
In his explanation of the story behind the song Tom says: “I remember people pondering buying shelves and not wanting to leave. It really was the walk of the moment that winter. With this heartbreak on my mind, I penned the song as a tribute to the shop where I would meet friends for a hot chocolate and a chat, or just to go and discover or read a book on my own. “
The song is available as a digital download for £1 via the Risen Records bandcamp page with all proceeds going to Bournemouth eating disorder charity, I*Eat.
Tom’s album From the Dear Green Place is due for release early next year.
