A RAPIST is behind bars for attacking a frail 68-year-old man in his home.

Stephen Thomas Jamieson, 20, was handed an eight-year prison sentence for raping and sexually abusing the pensioner in his bedroom at a shared house in Charminster on January 25 this year.

The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told police he had asked Jamieson and his friends to turn their loud music down before Jamieson forced his way into his room.

Jamieson, of Dale Valley Road, Poole, formerly of the YMA in Westover Road, Bournemouth, punched his victim seven times as he robbed him of a laptop, a phone and a television.

He then threatened to kill the traumatised pensioner forcing him to perform a sex act – now classed as rape.

When the victim refused to give up his bank PIN numbers, Jamieson pulled down the man’s pants and trousers and threatened to rape him.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard that Jamieson had admitted one charge of robbery but was found guilty of the two sex offences following a trial.

James Newton-Price, prosecuting, said Jamieson had an “extensive” criminal record and had convictions for theft, burglary, affray and battery.

Leslie Smith, mitigating, said Jamieson had suffered the loss of his grandfather four weeks before the offence but added there was nothing else he could say about the incident.

Judge Samuel Wiggs told Jamieson he would have to serve two thirds of the eight-year jail sentence for rape before being considered for parole. He handed him a five-year prison sentence for the robbery charge and 12 months for sexual assault – to run concurrently.

He told Jamieson: “You thought you could do what you liked with him. You bullied and abused him – you thought you could do what you liked to his property and his body and as a result of that you committed this horrible offence upon him.”
