PLUCKY Damian Bennett got the answer he wanted when proposed to his girlfriend at a pantomime.

Former X Factor and Dancing on Ice star Ray Quinn brought Aladdin to a halt at Lighthouse in Poole and left the stage for Damian to get down on one knee and ask Kayleigh Frulli to marry him.

After calling her from her seat he knelt down and told her she had been his princess for 10 years and when he popped the question she said yes before the crowd cheered and clapped.

Damian, 27, said: “Originally I didn’t want to get up on stage but Ray said ‘you’ve got to get up’.

“He said, ‘If you are going to do this you’ve got to do it properly’.”

The self-employed electrician came up with the idea after getting tickets to watch Aladdin to celebrate his grandfather John Burge’s 80th birthday.

Damian’s brother Elliott works at the venue and was able to set it up with the star of the show to stop the show after an hour.

“I only enjoyed the last 10 minutes of the pantomime,” Damian joked.

The couple live in Hewitt Road in Hamworthy and were at the show with their three-year-old daughter Lara and 10-week-old son Bobby as well as other family members.

Damian had told Kayleigh he was going to the loo and she was left wondering where he was until he took to the stage.

“I’m still in shock,” said Kayleigh, 25, who is a nurse.

“Once I saw him on stage I thought ‘Oh my goodness I know what’s coming’ and my heart started pounding.”

“I can’t believe he got up there and did it. It’s very brave.”
