RESIDENTS have been warned to be on their guard after shed and garage break-in crimes almost doubled last month.

Bournemouth and Poole saw an increase of 44 per cent in shed and garage burglaries from 86 offences in October to 124 in November.

And Chief Inspector Jared Parkin said the force has received reports of more offences this month. He added: “I am encouraging members of the public to make sure their garages and sheds are kept locked.

“Items that we see continually stolen are high value power tools and bikes.

“On the run up to Christmas make sure your presents are in the house, out of sight or locked to something secure if they have to be stored in a garage or shed.

He urged people to use good quality locks and not store alcohol and frozen meat outside.

Chief Insp Parkin said residents should call the police if they see anything suspicious.
